Mr. S Physics (“the Platform,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is an educational platform designed to support classroom instruction, assignments, assessment, and student progress tracking.
We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of student and educator information.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to all users of the Platform, including:
- Students
- Parents and guardians
- Teachers and school administrators
When the Platform is used under the direction of a school or district, student information is handled as education records and processed solely to provide educational services.
2. Our Core Privacy Commitments
We are guided by the following principles:
- We collect only the minimum information necessary to provide educational services.
- We do not sell student personal information.
- We do not use student data for targeted advertising.
- Schools and districts retain control over student education records.
- We use reasonable safeguards to protect data.
3. FERPA Service Provider Role
When used by or on behalf of a school or district, the Platform functions as a service provider performing institutional services such as:
- Hosting assignments
- Collecting student submissions
- Providing grading and feedback tools
- Generating classroom progress analytics
Student data is processed only for authorized educational purposes and is not disclosed except as described in this Policy or required by law.
4. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to operate the Platform.
A. Student Information (School-Directed Use)
- Name or display name
- School email or identifier (if accounts are used)
- Class enrollment information
- Assignment submissions and responses
- Grades, feedback, and progress data
B. Educator and Administrator Information
- Name
- School email address
- Course configuration and roster information
- Instructional materials and grading data
C. Technical Information
We may automatically collect limited technical data necessary for security and functionality, including:
- IP address
- Browser and device type
- Login timestamps
- Error logs
This information is used only for system operation, troubleshooting, and security.
5. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not intentionally collect:
- Social Security numbers
- Financial account information
- Precise geolocation (GPS)
- Biometric identifiers
- Health or medical records
- Sensitive demographic information such as race, religion, or political affiliation

Database & Backend
- Supabase - Secure database and backend services
Authentication (Optional)
- Google Login (OAuth) - Allows users to sign in with school-managed Google accounts
We do not access Google Drive, Gmail content, or other Google Workspace data unless explicitly authorized.
Educational Tools
- Desmos - Embedded graphing calculator for instructional use
Desmos is used only to render graphing functionality and does not receive student profile data beyond what is necessary for the tool to function.
All service providers are contractually restricted from using student data for independent marketing or commercial purposes.
10. Artificial Intelligence
The Platform does not use student personal information to train public large language models.
If AI-assisted features are introduced in the future:
- Student personally identifiable information will not be used to train external models
- Data will be transmitted only under appropriate contractual safeguards
- Schools will be notified of material changes
11. Data Retention
We retain information only as long as necessary to:
- Provide educational services
- Meet school or district requirements
- Comply with applicable laws
Upon verified request from an authorized school or district representative, student data will be deleted or returned within a reasonable timeframe unless legally required to retain it.
12. Data Security
We implement reasonable safeguards appropriate to student data, which may include:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Role-based access controls
- Secure authentication
- Monitoring for unauthorized access
- Backup and recovery procedures
While no system can guarantee absolute security, we take reasonable steps to protect information.
13. Data Incident Notification
If we become aware of a security incident involving student personal information, we will:
- Notify the affected school or district without unreasonable delay
- Provide relevant information to support investigation and response
- Take reasonable steps to remediate the issue
14. Children's Privacy (COPPA - School Use)
The Platform is intended for use in school-directed educational settings.
When applicable, schools may provide consent on behalf of parents for students under the age of 13 in accordance with applicable law.
We do not require children to provide more information than is reasonably necessary to participate in educational activities.
15. Parent and Student Rights
Student education records are managed by the school or district.
Parents and eligible students should direct requests for access, correction, or deletion of education records to their school.
16. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes affecting how student data is handled will be communicated through the Platform or to partner schools.
